In Cisco, the return back is more than the basic value; It is a way to lead by building a connection, deepening empathy and contributing to something greater than you. Throughout America (North, Central and South America) and in cooperation with the Regional Committee for Champions Employees, we host our American partner organization (APO) every year, which gives a week back.
This program, which was launched in June 2023, brings together teams of Cisco partner organizations throughout America to return and change together. We are expanding and intensifying our positive impact by including our channel partners. One stellar example of this effort comes from our team in Mexico. Read further and learn more.
Mexico’s partners’ organization sets out a standard
Within the Latam Cisco region, the Mexican partner organization is a shining example when it comes to community efforts. In the middle of 2024, the team led by project manager Jennifer Ortiz with our business partners Connext and Evox to create a real impact on Cana, a social enterprise that helps suspended women and those who are back into society.
Why La Cana? Jennifer explains: “We wanted to work with an organization where our help would be meaningful. In Mexico, my home country, the topic of women in Sowhat Taboo prison and organizations that support imprisoned women tend to be overlooked.
30 volunteers – 18 from our partners and 12 from the Latam Mexico partner organization – serves to achieve a meaningful change between La Canada through three caught initiatives.
Women’s support in Chalco prison
May 10, 2024 (Mother’s Day in Mexico) Our volunteers attend 75 women in women in Chalco and bring hygienic sets and – the same (if not more) important – moments of connection and dignity. The team of this lease, because it was further from the city, and on average its prisoners accept fewer visitors. “I’ve never been to prison, so I was very concerned,” Jennifer shared. “I didn’t know what to expect, but the interaction with women was a great lesson in empathy and perspective. We haven’t seen them for their alleged crimes but fellow citizens. It was a strong learning for me.”
Jennifer also shared how amazing it was to bring happiness to women. “Even though we weren’t a family, these women were extremely grateful that they had us as visitors. You’re happy there and hope it’s Bishhthe when she smiles on their faces.”
After being released from prison that builds strength and confidence in “Casa Medio Camino”, some women do not return to return or place to stay, asy are often rejected or scared for their crimes. To help alleviate this scenario, Cana has set up “Casa Medio Camino”, halfway for women leaving prison to provide shelter and support. As part of the APO, which gives back the week 2024, our volunteers turned their sleeves to help create a comfortable place for the inhabitants. Together:
- He founded a community garden and donated seeds to support long -term food cultivation.
- He renovated several areas in the building and created welcome functional spaces.
- Donated indestructible supplies to help with temporary housing 20 women ASY crossing back to society.
Allowing economic independence
Another aspect of the Canadian intervention program is to bring prisoners of productive activities and vocational education. This allows prisoners to acquire skills and tools that will help them improve their lives during their stay in prison, provide their families income and prepare them for life outside prison. One type of skills training includes different weaving, embroidery, sewing, macramé (decorative vessel using strings and knots techniques) and textile weaving techniques. As part of our giving, we hosted dirty in our offices hand -made objects created by a woman who is part of La Cana. Combined with our volunteer activity, money raised from Dirty Elifal USA to contribute more than $ 4,500 to finance La Cans.
Our support for critical CANS initiatives is the will to power cooperation. By joining our employees, partners and this social enterprise, we have shown that collective action can bring a tangible and permanent change. And the advantages of our work exceed their immicted impact:
- For the community: Women in vulnerable have received situations, support and opportunities to gain their dignity and independence.
- For our partners: Connext and Evox have strengthened their social impact strategies and strengthened their obligation to social responsibility.
- For our employed: Volunteers experienced a deep sense of purposes and fulfillment because they knew their efforts had directly changed their lives.
- For our company: This effort has deepened our culture of empathy, strengthened handcuffs with our partners, and showed our leadership in management meaningful social changes.
Even stronger is the report that we preferred and participated in initiatives such as APO, which gives a week back: Giving is a form of leadership. Let’s continue to lead in with a goal and create one community at a time.
